I love this concept! I hate flying with plane because I get severe anxiety and fear – so overland trips sound amazing. Do you plan to expand to Eastern Europe as well? What are the current challenges?
Hey Maria, we definitely want to expand to the whole of Europe and have ambitions to cover the world eventually! We have made some trips to Eastern Europe, so if you're interested just get in touch and we will see what we can do for you. :)
I would say our main challenges are 1) the cost of train travel vs air travel, train travel is not subsidised in the same way aviation is in the UK and many other European countries. For example, to get a family of four to the South of Spain by train will cost a lot more than taking a low-cost flight, and is more difficult to achieve for people on lower (or even normal) incomes. This is where we need to make a difference by finding ways to make it more affordable.
And the second challenge 2) is that many people haven't experienced slow travel yet, they are keen to get to their 'destination' quickly and stay there. We believe that there is a lot of joy and beauty to be found in the experience of the journey itself when you take it slow. The journey is part of the holiday experience. The challenge for us is how to bring that story across to get people to try it and then give them the best experience so they will also become slow travel enthusiasts.

Yes! I would love to connect, Marijke, as I'm about to run (and announce) an event in Split, Croatia on this topic. For our last event, our MC travelled overland from Bristol to Dubrovnik. :) And I opted to car pool/road trip rather than fly to Tirana recently. Look forward to reading more on your site. Hi Rael, we don't organise walking tours - our holidays are self-guided so we would recommend good activities like hikes around the area, and we do have a lot of customers who are hiking enthusiasts.
