Live More, Travel More — Sustainable travel blog in Portuguese & English

Olá! I'm Elaine Villatoro, a bilingual content creator (Portuguese & English) focused on Responsible Tourism at Live More, Travel More website and Instagram. I am from Brazil, and I had the opportunity to live in California for 2 years and 9 months in Sydney, besides traveling to amazing places such as Mexico, Namibia, French Polynesia, Seychelles, India, Nepal, Bhutan, Maldives and others.

Back in 2013 I started asking myself “What makes me happy?” and I figured out that the most unforgettable moments in my life, the times I’ve cried for happiness, the times I felt more courageous, wiser, more spiritual, and many other good feelings happened pretty much every time I was traveling. I understood that traveling is a tool that offers intense, profound and transforming experiences, and that is why it is so important to me and many people.

During that time I used to work in corporate, in 2014 LMTM was born, and in 2017 a promotion came along with situations and an environment that weren’t healthy. I ended up having a burn out and in 2018 I quit my job and decided to turn LMTM not only in a passion, but in a business with purpose =)

LMTM has been evolving as I do, in 2018 I started to learn how to become a more responsible traveler and then I begun to share what I was learning on social media and the blog.

Today, I am so happy for doing what I love and to encourage others to do it to. It is so nice to help travelers with resourceful information, help them to rethink older habits and to give voice to sustainable tourism entrepreneurs too.

Hey guys, I would like to share great news with all of you =)

On December 3rd, during the Braztoa's Sustainable Award in Brazil, our blog "Live More, Travel More" won an honorable mention in the Media Category for our Brazilian Destination Guides.

How did we get it? Well, instead of focusing in specific sustainable travel articles which have a low search volume and impact only people which are already looking for this subject, we started focusing on writing destination guides with information that generate environmental and social awareness, offers practical tips for tourists to minimize their impacts and even promotes businesses with good sustainable initiatives.
With our new strategy our website traffic went up 350% in the past year so we could impact more people (even those who are out of our "bubble") and empower responsible travel companies (from big to very small ones).

Receiving this honorable mention reminded me how we shall follow our hearts and be persistent to our purpose. We know that by choosing to generate positive impacts in the travel industry is challenging and that it may take a little longer for us to see the results we aim for. But (there is always a but), when the recognition and the results come, the feeling of knowing that you are doing the best that you can, not only for you but to the world, is fascinating.
