Over 30 years ago, Evelyn Hannon took the first step when she created JourneyWoman, a grassroots website movement to connect women travellers around the world and help them travel safely and well. She told women: ‘you can do it!’ and inspired a generation to listen to their hearts and travel.

Founded in 1994, JourneyWoman™ is the world’s first women’s solo travel publication, inspiring women to travel safely and well through our editorial, newsletters, webinars, live events, book club and community calls. We also host a private facebook group for women called "Solo Travel Wisdom", local meetups around the world and "Women's Travel Wisdom' a wellness and travel retreat in October 2022.

Our Women’s Travel Directory features women-friendly tourism businesses, hosting the world's largest resource of women-friendly tours, retreats, accommodations and guides in over 100 countries. All listings are searchable by country, date, type of activity (eg art, photography, cooking, hiking), and by category, such as slow, adventure, wellness and luxury travel, inclusive of LGBTQ+ and Indigenous tourism. Once verified, all members have access to editorial opportunities, webinars, a private facebook group, monthly calls to collaborate and share, and more.
