We interview Megan Wester, Senior Director of Marketing at the American Society of Travel Advisors (ASTA), about their annual Entrepreneur of the Year Award, presented at ASTA's Global Convention in Puerto Rico in May.
The Award provides a great platform for entrepreneurs to be recognized in front of hundreds of travel professionals and suppliers in attendance at ASTA's Global Convention. This is a fantastic opportunity for the winner to make connections and build new relationships that will help support their continued success.

Hey travelers and nomads!
I'm happy to share my project with you.
Microns.io is a marketplace that lets you connect with startup buyers and sellers.
It all started when I wanted to learn how to build startups and leave a 9-5 job.
When COVID started, I was fired from my job. Didn't even start building the product. Lol.
So I created a software agency to pay my bills. Finally, one year ago, we were profitable enough to finance my startup.
I started learning from Indie Hackers and Product Hunt about startups. I researched many ideas and realized there is no place for startup founders to sell their side projects. So I built Microns.
Why?
To help indie makers become entrepreneurs and create small investors culture.
You can't work forever for a 9-5 daily job. It's tough. Every maker, developer, and designer could be an entrepreneur.
It's just a matter of time. After that, you could learn how to build, promote and sell your startup.
So why don't you buy an already built and proven business? You only need to learn how to support and grow it.
👉 If you want to sell your project, feel free to do this on our website.
I'll be here all day, so happy to help and answer all your questions.
Would love your feedback. Thanks!
Hi Ilya, thanks for sharing Microns with the Travel Massive community, and congrats on the marketplace you've built!
A few quick questions:
1. What kinds of travel startups have you listed or sold in the past?
2. When is a micro-startup not "micro" any more?
3. Are blogs considered startups? For example, some of our members have built and sold thematic travel blogs that are turn-key and revenue generating.
Great questions, Ian!
1) Our buyers like travel startups, and here are a few recent:
- www.microns.io/startup-listings/personalised-travel-planning-service (Acquired)
- www.microns.io/startup-listings/covid19-travel-info-database (Still for sale)
2) We have a few requirements to qualify for "micro":
- Small team (1-5 people)
- Asking price up to $100k
- Bootstrapped
3) Yes, we categorize blogs as content sites.
Congrats on this platform. I would echo the same comments as Ian, especially curious about the blog.
Thank you, Ric. Appreciate the support. Just replied.
