I Built a Website That Only Lists Hotels in Europe With a Sea View — Run by Two AI Agents

Most hotel search engines will happily tell you a room has a sea view. Whether that's actually true is another question entirely. "Partial sea view" often means squinting past a parking lot. So I built something narrower and more honest: meerblickurlaub.de ("sea view holiday"), a curated directory that contains *only* hotels with a genuine sea view — nothing else.

The idea

The premise is simple. If you want the sea outside your window, you shouldn't have to filter through hundreds of listings hoping the photos aren't lying. I wanted a site where every single entry has already cleared that bar before it ever shows up in the search index.

The honest truth about why I built it: mostly for the fun of building it. It's a new project, it's an experiment, and I'm genuinely curious to see how it grows.

Two agents doing the work

What makes this more than a static list is that it runs on two Claude agents working in tandem.

The first agent is the scout. It searches across Europe looking for candidate hotels that could plausibly belong in the directory.

The second agent is the verifier. Before any hotel makes it into the live search index, this agent checks whether the property actually offers a real sea view. Only the ones that pass get added.

This division of labor matters. A single pass would let a lot of "sea-view-ish" hotels slip through. Splitting discovery from verification means the curation standard stays high, and the list grows slowly but steadily rather than ballooning with questionable entries. The agents are working their way across all of Europe, so the index keeps expanding over time.

The data and monetization

Hotel information — details, availability, booking — comes from Stay22, which is also how the site is monetized. That keeps the listings backed by a real travel-data provider while I focus on the curation layer that actually differentiates the site.

Where it's at

The site is brand new and, for now, German-only. I'm treating it as a slow-burn experiment: let the agents keep curating, watch the index fill out, and see where it goes. No grand growth targets — just a clean idea, executed for the joy of building it, and a curiosity about what happens next.

If you've ever booked a "sea view" room and ended up staring at a wall, you'll understand exactly why this exists.
