I was born, raised and educated in Germany and showed up in Toronto with two suitcases in hand, thinking it would just be for a year. 30 years later ... I have been in the industry for over two decades with in-depth experience in retail, wholesale, destination management and MICE, and now teach in the tourism diploma and degree programs at Humber College, Toronto. My focal points are Sustainable Tourism and Marketing/Social Media Marketing/Ethical Marketing.
What is your favorite travel destination?
Q&AParis!!! During my teenage years, I had a pen pal (letters, stamps, mailboxes, you know ...) and I spent my summers with her family there. I always dreamed of living there, but that did not happen. Now I can't wait to go back for extended visits!
Where do you dream of traveling to?
Q&ACambodia, Vietnam, Thailand
What was your first travel job?
Q&AAt DERTOUR in Germany. It is the country's third largest tour operator and half owened by the national railway company. I was an apprentice seeing several of their departments, including retail and wholesale.
What do you want to learn more about?
Q&ASolutions to mitigate power distance and tendencies of neocolonialization in travel when first world travellers choose a developing nation as their destination
