Hi everyone,

Just want to alert anyone reading this discussion that "Mauro" is a fake profile and is associated with "Michael".

They are both logged in with the same IP address (plus more...)

I have suspended both accounts as a result of their abuse of our terms of service.

Any further posts from anyone claiming to be a supplier, customer or employee of tourist.com will be deleted. If the owner wants to come clean and email me with an explanation (which I will share here) then they can email me.

I want to be clear that I am not trying to harm their business, and they only brought these actions on themselves by being dishonest. If the owners of a website are willing to go to lengths to make fake customer profiles and try to engage with our members, then that harms the trust of our community. I have zero tolerance for this. Be fake somewhere else!

I agree, we need to protect the integrity of the community, i think the lack of transparency is a concern, but you never know, they are very new and may be just finding there feet, but lets wait and see what happens :-)

Just wondering if anyone has any experience with Tourist.com they are asking me to join the platform, but before I do I thought I would ask the community as there seems to be an explosion of online resellers some of which don't look great. this was the email from them - am slightly dubious as they claim its FREE

Hello,

Just following up on your recent correspondence with our team.

Attached you’ll find a detailed proposal explaining how our platform works, the advantages of joining, and what you can expect as one of our partners.

Here’s a quick summary:
∙ Add your business to the Tourist app for free
∙ Keep 100% of your earnings — we never charge commissions
∙ Simply provide an exclusive discount or special offer for Tourist travelers (the final offer is fully up to you)

Registration is very simple — it’s just a short form at partners.tourist.com and the setup takes less than a minute.

Here's a step-by-step guide for registering & adding offers.

Should you have any questions, please let me know.

Best regards,
Walter

Hi James, I was contacted with an almost identical message in December last year. I asked "Can you tell me more about who is behind your business? e.g. your team etc" and I got a generic response that didn't answer my question. When I followed up with a "Who are the founders and who is the CEO of your company?" I did not get a reply.

If they can't tell you who is the owner or the founders of the company, I wouldn't trust it. Nice domain though!

Hi Iam, thanks for the comment, yea seems strange that they cant answer who the CEO is, I wonder what thier plan is to make money in the long term, will quizz them and update my findings on this discussion for the benefit of everyone, but as you said, fantastic domain name, it does look very professional :-)

Hi , happy to clarify — and it’s a fair question.

Tourist.com is not a reseller or commission-based marketplace. We don’t take a cut from bookings and we don’t process payments.

The platform is intentionally free for businesses: partners keep 100% of their revenue and simply choose whether to offer a small incentive to Tourist travelers. Monetisation is on the traveler side (optional paid membership), not on partners.

If helpful for the community, we’re glad to explain the model in more detail or share background in a separate thread.

I also got contacted a couple of days ago with an HTML short email with typos... I'm interested in hearing from people who have joined the app.

Hey James,
Yeah, I heard from them too and got the same email.

They explain the partnership is free, with no commissions or fees, and they only ask for a small discount. They say they earn from traveler subscriptions, while we keep 100% of the payment.

I haven’t decided yet, though. As a tour operator, I’m always looking to expand and get more visibility, but I want to make sure there’s no hidden catch or anything I’m missing.

Chief of Historical shenanigans, Best UK Tours

Yea we are much the same, but as with most free things there is always a reason or a catch of some sort, its fine if that catch is openly and honestly shown, Just take Facebook, we are the data to market to :-)

I recently received outreach from Tourist.com as well, offering a “free listing” in their partner directory. After replying, they sent me a PDF outlining their model, which is essentially a discount‑based membership system where partners provide tiered discounts (3–20%) to Tourist.com users.

Before considering a call or registration, I asked them to share verified data on their active users, app downloads, partner performance, and traveler demographics. For us, measurable impact is essential before joining any new platform.

If they provide transparent numbers, I’ll update this thread so other operators can evaluate the opportunity. And if it turns out not to align with our company’s positioning, I’ll share that as well.

For context, I work with Tangonian, a local operator in Kyoto Prefecture offering small‑group cultural and nature‑based tours. Because we focus on premium, experience‑driven travel, we evaluate discount‑based platforms carefully.

Happy to hear if anyone else has engaged with Tourist.com or has insights to add.

fast response

I followed up with Tourist.com and requested verified data on their active users, app downloads, traveler demographics, and partner performance. Instead of answering, they sent a sales‑oriented message encouraging registration, without providing any of the metrics needed to evaluate the platform.

If they eventually share transparent numbers, I’ll update this thread. If not, that’s also useful information for operators evaluating whether this model aligns with their business.

Ok, its seems though they are more focused on getting membership up than anything else, shame as what a great domain name to get

2 hours later

I have the same thought about the domain.

I also searched “tourist.com” on Google Maps out of curiosity, and the location that came up looked abandoned in India, which raised further concerns for me. Because of that, I’ve decided not to move forward, as it doesn’t seem like the right fit for us.

Sharing this in case it helps others who are evaluating similar offers. I’d be interested to hear if anyone else has had experience with them.

Seriously? You do realize tourist.com is a premium, decades-old domain that costs millions, right?
Google Maps auto-pins and legacy data are notoriously unreliable and have nothing to do with how a digital travel platform operates.
Judging a global online product by a random Maps result feels like a stretch.

I also asked (again) for information about the company founders and team and didn't get a response. I also noticed that they use emails with similar domains such as as teamtourists(dot)com, gototourist(dot)com and alltourist-europe(dot)com ... shady AF :/

Thanks for checking on that as well, Ian. The lack of response about their team and the multiple similar domains definitely adds to the concerns. Combined with what I found on Google Maps, it doesn’t give much confidence in their credibility.

Good to know others are seeing the same red flags, hopefully this helps other operators make informed decisions.

Also, I just joined today, found this thread through a Google search and wanted to contribute and learn from the community.

Well welcome to the community, and thanks for your input, travel massive is a nice happy place where we help each other out, hopefully see you at one of the socials at some point

1 day later

The founders are easy to find on LinkedIn — not sure what the issue is there.
As for multiple domains/emails, that’s pretty normal for early-stage travel products (different regions, onboarding flows, marketing funnels).
Nothing shady from my experience so far.

Are you involved in tourist.com Mauro? Because you're acting like it...

10 minutes later

Not affiliated at all. Just reacting to some pretty wild assumptions here.
I was sent their deck, it clearly explains how the model works, and it makes sense to me.
If it helps my clients avoid paying 20–30% commissions to platforms like GetYourGuide, that’s a net positive in my book.
People can decide for themselves — I’m just sharing my perspective.

Could you maybe send the LinkedIn profiles for us all to see, i just took a look and could find anything, thank you :-)

Hi James,

Tourist Inc. is a private entity funded by a group of private investors. We’ve been focused on building the platform in stealth mode, but as we scale, we’ll be rolling out our official corporate presence. For now, we’re letting the value of the platform speak for itself!

Best, Michael / Tourist Inc

Dear James,

You don't know me as I have only jumped onto this conversation. I was equally contacted by Tourist.com and I am my road of research. I have a local tour company based in Uganda, Africa and are obviously looking for more visibility.

I have joined this thread so that I equally get more insight from the responder on some details ie telephone contacts, physical address and owners.

3 days later

I signed up as well. Already got 3 real customers through Tourist.
Feels like a new serious player in travel — and honestly, with a name like tourist.com, that brand alone is worth millions.
Early days, but looks promising.

Our company received an email yesterday about Tourist.com's signup process, with a strong emphasis on no commissions. I did some research, and Google Maps lists their location as "Temporarily Closed" in India, which seems unusual. I also couldn't find any phone numbers, only an email address, and they have no Instagram presence. Given that they appear to be a new company, these details raise some concerns for me.

That seems to be a common feeling on this comment, not very transparent, i couldn't find them on LinkedIn either - but with the domain tourist.com they much have some money as that's an awesome URL

Hi James,

Spot on! We’re big fans of premium assets too—wait until you see tourist.uk! We’re securing the best local domains to make sure we’re ready for a massive global rollout.

Stay tuned! 🚀

Hi Perla, James, and everyone here!

I’m Michael from Tourist Inc., and I wanted to jump in and clear up some of the confusion. It’s great to see such a buzz about our domain — we agree, tourist.com is a fantastic home for what we are building!

To address your concerns directly:

Who we are: We are a US-based company (Tourist Inc.) with our headquarters and core operations managed globally.

The "Closed" Google Maps listing: The listing you saw in India is likely an old or incorrect entry not managed by us. We are currently updating our official digital footprint to reflect our active status.

Why we’re "quiet" on Socials: We’ve been focused 100% on building a robust, high-value platform for our partners. We are a new, lean team prioritizing the no-commission model to ensure our partners (like you!) keep more of their revenue. LinkedIn and Instagram launches are scheduled for the coming weeks as we move out of our initial rollout phase.

Transparency: We understand that being the "new kid on the block" with a premium domain can raise eyebrows, but we are here for the long haul. We prefer to let our platform's value speak for itself.

If you have any specific questions or want to hop on a call to see how we’re changing the game, please feel free to reach out to us directly at partners@tourist.com

Looking forward to working with many of you!

Best regards, Michael

Hi Michael, thanks for the reply, as you have probably read the issue we had is that no one could find you or any information about you, are you michael Litovchenko?

2 days later

I just got an email yesterday asking about who's the best contact to connect with in our company about their offering. I replied to the email with a name and we received a reply email not to that name but addressed to our business name... Felt very ai/chat bot, the email was pretty much a copy of what has been posted. Also, all of Michael's replies here seem to be chatgpt, none of these things build confidence. We won't be joining the platform.

Natalia, honestly — I find it a bit strange to turn down something that brings new customers, takes under a minute to join, costs nothing, and comes under a well-known travel name.

Of course, it’s your call. We’re happy with how the platform is working and wish you all the best.

1 hour later

Natalia — thank you for signing up just to leave this feedback. We’re taking it seriously and already making changes so this doesn’t happen again.
Thanks again, The Tourist Team.

Spot on, Natalia. I had the exact same reaction. When a platform claims to be 'global' but can't provide a human touch or transparent data, it’s a massive red flag.

It is a shame because the domain tourist.com has so much potential. However, it is not just Michael's reply here seems AI but also Mauro's passive-aggressive responses to the community's valid questions makes the whole setup even more suspicious...

It's a hard pass, We'd only reconsider if they could provide verified data, a real (non-AI) team, and transparent business information.

Until then, seeing the lack of transparency and the aggressive 'supporter' here has definitely helped the rest of us save our time! Thanks for calling it out."

Jyunpei Arazo, Friend, you’re clearly overdoing it with the AI angle and the conclusions. I get that this topic is popular, but you picked a bad way to self-promote.

I am a local tour operator in Uganda, Africa and was contacted by Tourist.com. I have not joined yet as i am a still doing my research on the same. Anyone that has used this platform before, please provide some insight.

Hello - I have just seen this, but I was also asked to look into this company by some tour operators, so here is what I found:

- Tourist.com appears to be operated by a Croatian company (Let's call them BS d.o.o, founder initials ML - I will leave details out for privacy, but easy to find). I understand they also now have an LLC in the US
- BS d.o.o is a small IT and software business, and looks like they purchased/leased the domain in mid 2025 (which I suspect is expensive - I have seen this domain previously for sale between 500-700k USD). They seem to have filed for the trademark "Tourist" in July 2025.
- This product is mainly for travellers to get discounts on travel - you can register for "free" and download their app, but looks like the real version is EUR 60 a year, there are no reviews of their app on their App store (although they have reviews on their website)
- They mention their "digital card" and spend quite a bit talking about this, but this seems to be nothing more than a membership card (online with QR code or apparently they will send out hard copy)
- Based on their partner page, and what they have written here, they seem to expect all their suppliers to offer discounts (and presumably you can "verify" their members via the QR code) - for the large OTAs, they just seem to have affiliate links.

Apart from this, there is not a lot of extra info - they are quite new, and didn't fancy registering to check their discounts. There are so many software companies currently working on travel/AI apps, I suspect we will see a lot more popping up.
Hope this helps

The lack of transparency seems to be the main issue, but like you say, if they only launched last year, it may take some time to find their feet and build there reputation, looking at the site stats, they have a massive amount of backlinks, and the domain authority is 21 which isn't bad but not unusual for the domain name... lets wait and see what happens

1 hour later

I got three emails from Tourist.com, strangely the first two of them did not even mention their company's name or their website. Today, another email arrived, finally i saw the word "Tourist." After looking at the website, i am unable to see what's wrong but something feels off. luckily, i fond this discussion. Given i am running free walking tours(tip-based) in China, i do not even know how do they plan to work with me with their designed mode. Anyway, thanks for all the info from previous contributors, i decided to just keep observing...
