Hi!
I am Tom, the founder of Desert island survival. I just wanted to share what i believe makes our trips exceptional. Our formula is pretty simple. we are picky about 2 simple things. Islands and People.
1) Islands - Finding the right island is really hard!, the island not only has to be beautiful and resource-rich but safe, we are talking no pit vipers or pirates! It also has to be close enough to tourism that we can operate, (think transport links, hospitals, and hotels) but not too close that you see boats and tourists and the illusion is broken! Then you have to work out who owns it and it also has to be affordable. So that's quite hard but we have 3 so far that fit the mold.
2) People - Our instructors are so important, its relatively easy to find someone who is good at bushcraft, but that is only half the job, the second and almost more important attribute is people skills. They have to be emotionally intelligent, able to read, and galvanize a group of strangers into a tribe. Their skills are just as valuable as their survival skills.
We firmly beleive everyone should experiances being marooned on a desert islnd once in thier life and that includes you 🙌
