During my master studies, the term "regenerative tourism" caught my eye. Positioned as the next level of sustainable tourism which often focuses merely on limiting harm. Regenerative tourism is inherently optimistic. It aims to make travelers an active part of positive change. However, when I searched for websites to actually book such activities, I came up empty; the concept existed almost entirely in academia. Meanwhile, I met countless travelers who were frustrated by mass tourism. They craved deeper connections with locals and wanted to leave a positive impact, but simply didn't know how. They wanted to be regenerative tourists, even if they hadn't heard the term yet.

That gap inspired me to build The Amazing Tourist, a platform that focuses on regenerative tourism experiences and activities not only to create memorable trips, but also to generate positive value for local communities, culture, and nature.

It also has an AI trip planner and other tools that helps travelers to transform their travel itineraries to be regenerative and calculate estimate amount of CO2 saved by doing each action. You can see what I've built so far at: theamazingtourist.com

Building the platform has also taught me something unexpected: regenerative tourism isn't just an environmental idea. It's a business opportunity. Travelers increasingly look for authentic experiences, while destinations are searching for ways to distribute tourism benefits more fairly and support local small businesses. Technology can help connect those two needs. The goal isn't to replace traditional tourism. It's to make meaningful experiences easier to discover and help eco-conscious travelers find what they are looking for without having to spend hours browsing dozens of websites.

I'm still early in this journey and actively looking for collaborations with nature conservation and cultural heritage conservation groups and organizations. I dream one day that regenerative tourism becomes standard way of travelling not just a new trend and changing mindset Instead of asking "What can we take from this destination?", we can ask: "How can each trip leave something positive behind?"
