Sarowar Jahan Mithu is a Bangladesh-based sustainable travel professional and fixer with more than 16 years of experience helping international travellers experience Bangladesh beyond the usual tourist routes.

He started his journey as a tour guide in 2008 and has since welcomed and travelled with hundreds of visitors from more than 50 countries around the world. His strength is knowing Bangladesh from the ground level—from the busy streets and hidden corners of Dhaka to remote villages, rivers, tea gardens, archaeological sites, the Sundarbans and the Chittagong Hill Tracts.

Mithu is particularly good at making things happen locally. Whether it is arranging transport, boats, local guides, permits, photography opportunities, village visits, cultural encounters or hard-to-find local experiences, he knows who to talk to and how to make the logistics work smoothly.

With an academic background in World Heritage Studies and professional experience in sustainable tourism and conservation, he has a deep understanding of Bangladesh’s history, heritage, culture, nature and local communities.

He is also a passionate photographer and enjoys introducing travelers to the people and everyday life behind the destinations.
