Community, Gratitude, and Looking Ahead: Cape Town Travel Massive Celebrates the Italian Riviera at Ristorante Liguria

Travel Massive Cape Town celebrated the year in true Mediterranean style with an Italian Riviera Summer Night in partnership with Ristorante Liguria, bringing together the local travel community for an evening of flavour, music, and connection in the heart of Cape Town.

The evening brought together a mix of familiar faces and new members, with many attendees embracing the “Anything Bright & Beautiful” dress code — adding splashes of colour and festive Riviera flair.

Guests were warmly welcomed by Sara Carriem, co-manager of Ristorante Liguria, who generously provided grazing platters and drinks on arrival. Conversations flowed and the cash bar remained busy throughout the night, with some attendees taking the opportunity to enjoy Liguria’s special dinner options.

Cape Town Community Leader Fuad Peters welcomed attendees with an overview of the Travel Massive community, and reflections on the year’s events which helped to support and grow the network.

Attendees were encouraged to support Michaela Crowe and her CPUT students when they begin seeking placement opportunities for their “Work Integrated Learning” requirements, highlighting the importance of industry support for emerging tourism professionals.

Sherise Dreyer was acknowledged for her work in accessible tourism and Master’s studies in Strategic Marketing, and her upcoming talks and workshops at WTM Africa 2026.

Ristorante Liguria’s owner Shelton shared the story behind the restaurant and their commitment to working with guides, tour operators, and travel businesses to host guests and industry gatherings, including the Cape Tourist Guides Association (CTGA) end-of-year event.

The evening wrapped up with prize giveaways, with thanks to our generous event sponsors:

With formalities complete, guests continued socialising and networking, with some heading off into the night for further celebrations — bringing a stylish and memorable close to Cape Town’s final event of the year.
