👋 Hi everyone, I'm Haruya from Tokyo — just joined this community!
I'm working on an AI travel tech startup called Tripia, and I just released our app last month. (Actually, I’ve developed this app all by myself 💪)
The idea came from a very personal pain point:
As someone juggling a busy schedule, I found it hard to take time off — not because I didn't want to travel, but because planning the trip was too time-consuming. I’d spend hours comparing places, organizing routes, and looking up what to do. Eventually, I’d just give up.
🧠 That got me thinking:
Could AI actually take on the planning part — and do it well?
🚴♀️ Over the past year, I've been exploring how large language models and real-time data can help generate full travel itineraries based on personal preferences. The result is Tripia — a tool that creates editable, customizable plans in seconds, from AI-curated spots to adjustable maps and timing.
👉 If you're interested in my app, you can install it at tripia.app (iOS and Android).
I know this is just one possible approach, and I’m really curious:
* How do you see AI changing the way we travel?
* Can technology enhance personalized travel without losing authenticity?
* What balance do we need between automation and human input?
I'd truly appreciate any feedback or thoughts!
Hi Haruya, thanks for sharing Tripia with the Travel Massive community, and it's fantastic to feature a startup from Japan!
The scheduling / transport feature is very helpful for multi-day / multi-city itineraries. Does your technology need to look up external APIs for schedules, or is your LLM trained on this to provide a fast response?
In response to your questions — I feel that social proof is an important aspect of trip planning (for example, how many people have visited or recommend a location), and this is where AI planning seems to fall short. I'm 10x more likely to act on a recommendation from someone that I know, or trust. One way would be to add a social/trust layer on top of the AI recommendations, powered by humans.
One quick feedback about the app — I generated a tour from Tokyo to Osaka, and it recommended Universal Studios, but only to stay for 30 minutes! Perhaps some attractions need longer than others to explore them.
Hope this feedback helps!
