I'm doing a compilation of top "M" places. So far I've gone to Malta, Malaga, Miami, Malaysia, Monaco, Morocco. Maldives or Myanmar (though costly!) possibly next - or any recommendations? Thanks.
Hi Mary! if you are looking for a hidden "M" gem, I highly recommend MIYAZU city in Kyoto, Japan.
It's in the heart of what we call 'Another Kyoto', the coastal, rural side of Kyoto prefecture that many people miss.
- The scenic "M": It's home to MIYAZU Bay and the famous Amanohashidate (the bridge to heaven). It's ranked as one of the "Three Scenic Views of Japan" and looks like a dragon flying in the Sky when you view it upside down, A local tradition called MATANOZOKI.
- Another "M" bonus: a great start to the MAIZURU area (another M!) or the nearby Inaba MERCHANT House in Kyotango for a deep dive into Japanese history without the city crowds.
I tried my best to hit the M's so it may feel relevant when reading 😄
I work with Tangonian here in the northern Kyoto region, so if you need any specific tips on getting the best shots or local food recommendations (the seafood is incredible!), feel free to ask!

Are you referring to ‘M’ as the country, or the cities as well?
Moldova, Mozambique, Mauritius, Mongolia came to my mind 🤔
Cities too.
Wow that’s an impressive list! Amazing

Fabulous recommendations, Jyunpei. Thank you for searching your brain for "M"s and thank you for your generous offer of tips.
Maroochydore (Australia), Milford Sound (New Zealand), and of course Manhattan!
Maroochydore is a new one. Love the Sunshine Coast. Thanks, Ian. (Milford S and Manhattan - check and check!)
Madrid, Missouri, Michigan, Montana - all have some amazing, lesser-known gems that many people miss out on.
Thanks, Jenn. Montana is on my dream list. Will look into the other US places. (Madrid done)
Marbella maybe 🤔
Love the old town. Thanks, Julia.
You should definitely consider Mexico! Whilst I have never been (but really want) people speak highly of it and it can be easily done on a budget!
Gracias, Maria! It's definitely on the list. I've only been to Baja but what to see more.
