About me

I'm ecologist, experiential educator and travel professional currently based in Tasmania, Australia.

My passion for the natural world and love of exploration have taken me to over 40 countries on 6 continents and led to a wealth of career experiences. I’ve led environmental study abroad programs around the world, managed international conservation and restoration projects, and developed communications materials for non profits. I’ve also worked as a guide in the ecotourism industry, consulted tourism councils on sustainability strategy and created storytelling content for adventure travel publications. I hold dual Masters in Conservation Biology from the University of Michigan, USA and in International Sustainable Tourism Management from Monash University in Melbourne, Australia. I am also a co-founder and advisor to Hinoki Travels where I focus on destination development and sustainability.

Hinoki is a boutique travel company that offers custom, individual retreats that are designed to help reduce stress and spark creative thinking. We help travellers to discover uncommon destinations through slower travel, thematic journeys and connection to place. Our purpose for existence is to create a travel experience that is less extractive and more reciprocal, where local people in the communities we visit benefit from our trips as much as our guests do. Each of our departures support local environmental and cultural conservation efforts led by the communities we visit.
