Food tourism has always been a part of the travel experience and it's not new.
Since 2015, I have been writing about local and authentic food experiences on Authentic Food Quest, a food and travel website I co-founded at www.authenticfoodquest.com
The goal has always been and continues to be about inspiring people to seek out local food and culinary activities on their travels. We share content about cooking classes, food and wine tours, recipes of emblematic dishes all aimed at helping people experience local culture through food.
Since the pandemic and also keeping with the rise in travel, we've seen an increased consumption in our content. And, when traveling and participating in various culinary activities around the world, we see more people and a higher interest in learning about local foods and drinks.

We are headed to Costa Rica in Feb 2023 and would love recommendations for food & activities. We will be near San Jose & Monteverde for 10 days.
We are finally taking our son on his first international adventure, so feel free to throw in any tips for international travel with a 3 year old.

Hello Erin! San José is a pure city, there isn't much to do with children. Monteverde is very beautiful! I also recommend the area of Playa Hermosa and Los Sueños, which is an hour and a half from San Jose! Its a beach town and there are many activities to do such as canopy, ATV, Tortuga Island Tour, snorkelling. If you are interested, I recommend Costa Rica Royale, they can help you plan all that.

Hi! Heading to San Jose April 3-7. we have 3 full days to explore with the kids. I understand San Jose is all city but isnt the volcano a valid excursion from San Jose? My kids at 5 and 2.5. We are vegetarian, so also looking for any food recs
