🗣 About the speakers:

Prof. Claudia Brözel:
Claudia initiated the competition in 2019 and is a professor at University For Sustainable Development Eberswalde (near Berlin), for eMarketing, Sustainable Management, eTourism, Ethics and Interneteconomy.

Laura Kromminga:
Laura is a consultant, coach and lecturer focussing on social entrepreneurship and impact investment. She believes that innovation is key to tackle the social and ecological problems of our time, but we need innovation at scale. Therefore, she works with different stakeholders to reduce these barriers and help social innovation scale.

Rika Jean-Francois:
Rika works for ITB Berlin as CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) Commissioner. She is passionately advocating responsible tourism and speaks at sustainable tourism events internationally. Rika is holding a Master Degree in Social Anthropology & Iranian Studies, with an expertise on ethnic identities, sustainable development and diversity issues.

Niky Anique:
Niky is the founder of WeView, a virtual tourism platform which makes it possible for people all over the globe to visit any place, sight or event in the world in real-time, through a personal mobile video connection. Coming from Iran, she knows first-hand the need for alternative solutions to traditional tourism, for being able to see the rest of the world. With her idea she won the 1st prize of the Social Entrepreneurship in Tourism Competition 2019, in the category Best Idea.

🌎 About the Competition:

The Social Entrepreneurship in Tourism Competition is the first worldwide competition focusing on social innovation and entrepreneurship in the field of tourism.

The competition aims to address problems that are caused by tourism development and tries to find the best solutions to be implemented by the industry, governments, NGOs or local communities. The structure of the competition follows the United Nation’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Competition Timeline:
* 22 June - 25 July: Applications
* 4 July - 1 August: Community voting
* 3 - 17 August: Final Round (10 finalists)
* 18 August - 4 September: Evaluation Phase
* 21 September: Award ceremony (online)
