I am the author of the humorous travel book Yank Down Under: A Drink and A Look Around Australia. As an American who lived in Australia for three years, I offer a unique perspective on life Down Under, along with a knack for observing and relaying hilarious stories about the unique places I visited and the characters I met along the way—and there are plenty of those. The pages of Yank Down Under are filled with witty cultural observations and historical perspective as I cruise the crocodile-infested waters of the Northern Territory with an Aboriginal guide, jump into a swimming hole with a busload of retirees, and stuff my face with beers and meat pies at “the footy.” Yank Down Under is “info-tainment”—a travel guide that was written to make you laugh and maybe even help you plan your trip.
I began my career as a newspaper journalist in Colorado, where I won the award for Best Column Writing from the Colorado Press Association at the age of twenty-three. Born and raised Massachusetts, I attended Eckerd College in Florida, then lived most of his adult life in California, Australia, and the French Alps. I've been a magazine editor, a radio sports anchor, an advertising copywriter, and a marketing professional for premium sports brands. I've also written for a number of magazines, hosted a YouTube series, dabbled in podcasting, and studied improv. If you read the book, let me know what you think on Amazon or on social media.
