Sofiretown Youth Crew is an arts recreational NPO collective from Johannesburg, South Africa working in social community engagements, intercultural youth exchanges, and cultural research. It was founded in 2010 as an afterschool extramural program in the historical suburb of Sophiatown, and currently working from Soweto, Johannesburg and Germany. We started first as a youth crew formed as part of the Sophiatown Project. The project was a collaboration between both local and international institutions, local organizations and community members
I joined Travel Massive to connect Sofiretown Youth Crew’s work in youth development, cultural exchange, and community engagement with a global network. Travel is central to our mission of learning, collaboration, and storytelling—especially across borders. This platform helps us build partnerships and share our local work with a wider audience.
