About me

Hello! I am a new, aspiring travel vlogger, planning to create content based on each culture's cuisine and culinary traditions.

Before I go into the content I plan to create, here's a little more about me:
I am an avid traveler who wants to take their traveling experiences to the next step. I'm originally from Brazil, but I moved to California with my family when I was 7. I fell in love with traveling when I was just ten years old when my parents put me in a plane to go visit my cousins in New Zealand (not the first time they gave me the opportunity to travel alone as a kid...& definitely not the last). I remember loving the experience and thinking I wanted to be a “professional traveler" when I grow up. Since then I traveled to any place I could with the money I had. I did semesters abroad (both in High school and college). I was an au pair shortly after school in the UK, and taught English in Thailand and Costa Rica. I also volunteered in India and Brazil. I spent one year doing my working Holiday visa in Australia (doing service jobs and nannying), which is where I picked up my passion for eating an entirely plant based diet and cooking great healthy food.

I spent a total of 4 years abroad after college, trotting the globe and it was the best, most AMAZING experience I've had up until that point. But eventually I returned home to get my masters and teach full time to make more $$$ (so I can travel again obviously) But I also had one foot out the door waiting for my next opportunity to travel. Each time I was on a school break, I would take off to my next adventure! For each culture I explored, I made sure to take time to learn about the cuisine of the area and how I could transform their traditional dishes into something people with dietary conditions, like myself, could eat (i.e. vegan, vegetarian, pescetarian, gluten free etc.)

This is how I came up with my idea. Not only do I want to inspire others to travel, but I also want to build a platform for aspiring travelers with dietary restrictions to have access to the cultures' food, while educating them on the the countries' culinary history. This would be information they can use while traveling or take it back home with them (to cook with friends and family).

The reason I'm so passionate about this is because as someone with food restrictions, I understand how it could be challenging to have access to the food you can eat or to fully immerse yourself in the culture without trying their signature dishes. I became a vegetarian at the age of 13, I went vegan for 3 years, gluten free for a year, but now I mostly stick to a vegetarian diet and I eat fish on occasion. I am thrilled that traveling with such restrictions have become easier over time, but I would like to take it one step further to bridge the gap. Eating right is not only good for the body, but for the soul and for this beautiful planet we explore!

I am very excited to follow this idea to fruition and help others who enjoy traveling (& eating) as much as I do! I also can’t wait to meet others in this vast community get inspiration of my own! I hope to see you all at the next meeting!
