Want to show off your geographic knowledge and travel savvy? Want to meet other Travel Massive members? Then come to the Ottawa Travel Massive’s fall kickoff event: a travel trivia pub game!
It’s happening at the Lieutenant’s Pump pub at 361 Elgin Street. Yes, Elgin is still under construction, but it’s usually possible to find parking on adjacent side streets—or you can get there on foot, by bike or by bus.
Here’s how it works: People play in teams of four. You can show up with a ready-made team (note that this event is now open to everyone--you don't have to be a Travel Massive member). Or you can come alone or in a smaller group, and we’ll match you with other players looking for a team. It’s a great way to meet other travel-minded people!
The games are focused on fun. This isn’t a high-school geography exam or a Jeopardy audition! If you’ve ever played a game in the Ottawa Trivia League, you’ll recognize the format, as your quizmaster (quizmistress?) for the evening is new Ottawa Travel Massive co-chair Laura Byrne Paquet, whose husband Paul runs the Ottawa Trivia League. (Your other new chapter co-chair, Peter Johansen, will be on hand to distribute prizes. Yes, there will be prizes! Read on!)
The doors will open at 6:30pm and the game will run from 7pm to about 8:30pm.
There’s no fee to play, but if you’d like to buy a drink, snack and/or meal, that would make the pub very happy (as they are donating the space for free).
Still on the fence? Here’s something to sweeten the deal: Each member of the winning team (TM member or not!) will receive a prize package from the good people at Parks Canada. Parks Canada’s Travel Media Relations team provides opportunities for you to get that perfect story, video or photo, so you can share with your audience the amazing places and experiences that Parks Canada has to offer. Information on contacting the Parks Canada team will be available at the trivia night.
