We are pleased to announce the next Travel Massive Glasgow event on Tuesday 27th August 2019, at 6:30pm.

Venue: Cathedral House, 28-32 Cathedral Square, Glasgow, G4 0XA

*Deborah Macken — Growing a Successful Accommodation Business with Sustainability in Mind. A Q&A Session.*

Deborah owns and operates East Cambusmoon Holiday Cottages, two properties in Gartocharn in the southern part of Loch Lomond & Trossachs National Park. Created from derelict farm buildings the self catering cottages have been successfully trading since 2012.

Fundamentally they offer high quality holiday accommodation whilst maintaining highest sustainability principles; they’ve won various awards for sustainable design and business success, as well as holding the Green Tourism Gold Award. The business also won the 2018/19 Thistle Award for the best self catering accommodation in West Scotland.

Deborah’s background is in commercial property and renewable energy, she’s a Chartered Surveyor by profession and loves being self employed. Travel is an important part of her life and this year’s adventures include Iceland, Skye, Mauritius, the Pennine Way and Norfolk.

Deborah recently joined the Board of Love Loch Lomond, the DMO for Loch Lomond, Trossachs and Clyde Sea Lochs.

*Laura Mckenzie — Rebuilding Trust: Trials & tribulations of purchasing a hotel with a bad reputation. A Q&A Session.*
Laura is the previous owner of 15 Glasgow and manager of Dakota Deluxe Glasgow. Laura has recently purchased the iconic Cathedral House in Glasgow which has unfortunately grown a bad reputation for its customer service over the years.
Laura will be discussing why she feels she can turn Cathedral House's fortunes around and she will provide insights into what she is doing to rebuild its customers' trust. This will be a thought-provoking, frank, and sometimes humorous discussion that will highlight the challenges and successes that come with managing a hotel.
