About this event

UNFORTUNATELY, DUE TO THE RISING NUMBER OF COVID-19 INFECTIONS IN BERLIN, WE HAVE DECIDED TO POSTPONE THE EVENT.

HOPEFULLY WE WILL BE ABLE TO RUN IT IN THE SPRING OR SUMMER.

IN THE MEANTIME, THANKS FOR YOUR SUPPORT AS ALWAYS AND STAY TUNED FOR OUR NEXT ONLINE EVENT!

Travel Massive Berlin is back! We're happy to announce our first in-person meetup after a long break - outside and with all the required safety and hygiene measures in place, of course.

We hope you will join us for a walking tour through Kreuzberg on Saturday, 24 October.

Guide Muhammed Lamin Jadama from Querstadtein will show us „Kreuzberg behind the Scenes: The Making of a Diverse Neighbourhood".

The tour starts at Görlitzer Bahnhof, leads through Görlitzer Park and ends at the Waldemarstraße. All the required social distancing and hygiene measures will be kept.

Please note that at least 10 participants (but max. 12 people) are needed to run the event. This is a paid event - see details below.

🙋‍♂️ About the tour

Muhammed Lamin Jadama will show us “his” Kreuzberg — from the perspective of a political activist, photographer, social worker and local.

He will explain how the drug problem in Görlitzer Park is connected to the European asylum system, what life is like if you don’t have a residence status and how social workers try to support those who are affected.

On the way, Muhammed will introduce some of the many Kreuzberg initiatives and associations in which people with and without a history of migration shape their neighbourhood together. His tour leads to important meeting spots in the district, such as the Senegambia Restaurant, where you can learn about Muhammad’s birthplace and its colonial history.

In the studio of "We are born free! Empowerment Radio", he will talk about how a lack of press freedom forced him to leave Gambia and about his own involvement in the self-organisation of migrant communities.

*The cost for this tour will be between €14,60 and €17,50 per person, depending on the final number of participants. We will advise you of the final amount nearer the time. Please bring the money in cash. The full amount will go to Querstadtein.*
