About the owner, Maria Hoover:

I grew up in a sun-kissed suburb of Mexico City, and I lived in Mexico for 24 years. Growing up in one of the largest, most dynamic cities in the world has certainly left its mark on me. It’s inspired me to always seek out culturally rich travel experiences, the kind that have you feeling more like a local than a tourist.

Mexico is such a vibrant country, and I make time to go back at least once a year. Now, though, I often make the trip with my two teenage daughters in tow! A love of travel is something I’m so eager and excited to pass on to them — if you’re a parent yourself, I’m sure you can relate. It’s so important to open our children’s eyes to the wonders of the world, by introducing them to new people, cultures, and ideas.

In fact, a family trip we took several years ago completely transformed how I approach travel. My husband and I packed up the kids and embarked on a l-o-n-g U.S. road trip, from Charleston to Tennessee, Niagara Falls to Chicago, and lots of places in between. Along the way, we stayed in all kinds of accommodations, from budget to luxury. Here’s what I discovered: Those luxury stays made ALL the difference! We woke up ready to explore and learn more together (instead of lagging from a night spent suffering on a lumpy mattress …). That’s why I include a touch of luxury in every trip I plan. It truly elevates your travel experience to “unforgettable” levels.

When I’m not traveling with my family, you can find me on the golf course trying to perfect my stroke — though I may never get there! And that’s okay. I consider golf a passion of mine, even if I’m not a pro. Even still, I love to practice my passion surrounded by paradise (like my first trip to Hawaii, where I golfed the day away while enjoying the island’s dramatic vistas). That’s why designing luxury golf vacations, whether with your family, your golf buddies, or your colleagues, is a specialty of mine.
