Editor in Chief of Sonne Intercultural Magazine, PhD candidate at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich, Germany, Producer for the Ebola Bye Bye Programme (an MiCT project),. An experienced multimedia journalist and producer from Freetown, Sierra Leone. In 2007 I was selected to join a team of nine journalists which formed the core of “Cotton Tree News” (CTN), a new nation-wide media project funded by several European countries and located at the University of Sierra Leone. I was quickly promoted to be the Editor and Presentor of CTN’s daily lunchtime news program as well as CTN’s weekly program on education. My reporting has been recognized by both UNICEF and Journalists for Human Rights.
I gained a deeper understanding of the standards of fairness, accuracy, and ethics in media by participating in seminars and internships at the BBC Trust in Sierra Leone, Deutsche Welle in Germany, and Star Radio in Liberia. I hold a B.A degree in Mass Communication (Honours) from the University of Sierra Leone and M.A in Journalism from the University of Groningen, Netherlands.
