I have 21 years experience in the Tourism Industry. While I was studying I worked for a local transport company that arranged shuttle transfers for guests from the Airport to their hotels. Once I had completed my Travel and Tourism Diploma, I started working for the airlines, starting at Nationwide Airlines, then British Airways and finally at South African Airways.
Upon leaving the airlines after 8½ years, I moved on to working as a Travel Agent for the Flight Centre Group and then at Club Leisure Travel.
After 4 years I decided that a change was on the cards again and I made the move to Inbound Tourism and joined the team at Thompsons Africa. Starting in the Reservations department, I quickly became an expert on South Africa and all the amazing sights and activities my own country has to offer and formed strong relationships with the suppliers I was in contact with. After 6 years in reservations, I was offered the opportunity to up-skill myself in the Procurement department. Working as a Procurement Executive for a year, I built on the many relationships I had already formed as well as making numerous new ones. At the beginning of 2019, Thompsons Africa realised that they needed to fill their Trainer position that had been vacant for a year and they offered me the opportunity to take on this role. Training is an area that I have always felt drawn to and I grabbed the position with both hands.
When COVID-19 hit our shores it was with a very heavy heart that I bid Thompsons Africa farewell however this was exactly what I needed to realise my dream of opening my own business.
