About me

Greetings! Travelers around the world!
This is Rick from Kunming, Yunnan, China. I am an English-speaking guide with 10 years working experience. Now i am running a travel company in Yunnan province,China.

As a newbie of the, I am here not to brag myself but to share my personal perspective of traveling.

What makes a best trip? Is it all about visiting highlights or landmarks? Is it all about enjoying fancy hotels or gourmet food? Is it all about flying to another place and living the same style of life?
YES and NO. As a passionate traveler, I assume a good trip is based on visiting different highlights: Landmarks, UNESCO Sites, Best restaurants or Fancy hotels. But the one-of-a-kind trip is way beyond that. It should be the one you can touch the authentic local life, communicate with the local history and culture, immerse yourself in the locals and be enchanted by various unique experiences.
Generally, I believe what are you going to do is more attractive and memorable than where you are going.
Travel to learn new things, Explore the unknown beauty, Embrace the cultural immersion, Enjoy like a local.

I am here not to tell you how beautiful your destination will be but to recommend you alternative ways to experience it

Yunnan is my lovely hometown. It is a place where the Himalaya meets the Southeast Asia. It is a place combines lush tropical rain-forests and holy snow-mountains. It is a place inhabits 25 colorful ethnic minority groups and a place where the central civilization compromise to the minority cultures.
“Is there a recipe for a very best trip in Yunnan?”
My answer is “No”.
Being your guide, I would love to customize different “Experiential Adventures” upon your different interests and requests. I would love to arrange you to Homestay in an authentic village, to learn traditional skills from the local handicrafts men, to enjoy a non-touristy market or a festival with the locals.
I have tried my best to create authentic travel memories by tightening bonds between travelers and locals, and by visiting genuine places.
Who knows? Many years later, you might forget the places where you visited, but still remember being invited at the local's home and enjoy a cup of tea or a bowl of rice.

I am here not to persuade you choose my service but to make real friends, with those who share the same interest on the Off-the -beaten path traveling, First-hand experiences with locals, Chinese minority history and culture, Natural scenery and authentic villages.

My name is Rick, thank you for your attention to the fabulous Yunnan. Thank you for your attention to me, a passionate tour guide and Non-touristy traveler.

Best regards.
Rick Wu
