I'm Lot, a professional travel writer. Leading the Belgian travel blog Reisgoesting and its team is my main occupation, but I also work as a photographer, writer and editor for other online, trade and occassionaly print media.
Some of my work has been published in various touristic brochures, various online and print media, and even the 2019 National Geographic Calendar.
Reisgoesting started out in 2015 as one of the few Belgian online travel magazines. During the years, Reisgoesting gained a strong following of people who love adventurous travel and being outdoors.
'Goesting' is a typical Flemish word. We use it to express desire, enthusiasm, appetite, longing for something. Combined with the word 'reis', which means travel, it expresses a desire to travel and to explore the world.
With Reisgoesting we show our readers that the world is ours to explore. We encourage people to take the plunge, to travel the world. Good writing is the core of Reisgoesting, but you'll find fine photography as well.
We put the destination first. That means you will find less selfies and more information about the destination itself
I believe a good network is the best tool for a travel writer, and I want to strengthen my network.
Ohh, that's a difficult question. At the moment I am utterly in love with Sri Lanka, but I carry a deep love for a lot of other destinations, too. Like the Caribbean islands, or the Scandinavian countries.
I want to see the vastness of Alaska. The culture of Greenland. I want to eat my way through Japan, and stroll through the Philippines.
I was a volunteer travel writer for some time before it started snow balling into a full blown career.
I want to learn more about different cultures. I realise we are all human and all want the same things: to live in peace and prosperity. But at the same time, there's so many cultural differences. I want to learn how people live their lives.
Open your mind.
