Karen Loftus is a globetrotting photographer, a travel, lifestyle and adventure writer, an avid storyteller, a speaker and a comedian.

Prior to her journalistic endeavors, the award winning playwright and Tennessee Williams Fellow cut her travel teeth as an international comedian. After living and working in NY, LA and London 'Lofty' toured The Middle East, Asia and Europe, entertaining the troops and international audiences at theaters, festivals, colleges and conferences around the world.

Loftus juggled her groundbreaking tours, her solo, American Woman show and her non-profit program, The Body Comedy Project, where she used humor to heal, both survivors of violence and domestic violence offenders in prison and in shelters around the country.

After ten years she took a break from her comedic endeavors and worked as an entertainment reporter. One year on Hollywood's raging red carpet later, had her running for the global door.

As a travel, lifestyle and adventure writer, Loftus has since written thousands of articles for 90+media outlets. She and her work have been featured in The NY Daily News, Toronto’s Globe & Mail, The Washington Post, Baltimore Sun, Toronto’s Globe & Mail, CNBC, BBC, The Gulf News, Robb Report, Forbes, Huffington Post, About.com, Men’s Fitness, Men’s Journal and countless others.

She's been to all seven continents, 70 countries and counting. Today she speaks at conferences about women and travel; the transformative power of travel, solo travel and adventure travel, among others.

She co-hosts #WATC-Women’s Adventure Travel Chat on Twitter, which garners as many as 10 million uniques in the hour. She runs freelance writing, travel writing and creative writing workshops and co-hosts and co-produces, ReVerbs, Taking Storytelling to New Heights, a live storytelling platform at conferences and events around the world.

She’s launching her own travel site, leading adventure travel trips around the world and getting back on stage with her own storytelling evening, Tales of a Lofty Traveler.

She is most at home when she is away from it.
