Johnmary Kavuma is a passionate Ugandan social entrepreneur, environmental advocate, and community development leader dedicated to creating innovative, sustainable solutions to the challenges facing African communities. He is the founder of Upcycle Impact Tours and co-founder of Upcycle Africa, two award-winning initiatives that harness the power of tourism and circular economy practices to drive environmental conservation, youth empowerment, and poverty alleviation.
Growing up in a region affected by plastic pollution and poverty, Johnmary turned personal adversity into purpose. He began transforming waste into opportunity building homes from recycled plastic bottles, training youth in green skills, and now using tourism to connect the world with grassroots impact.
He is an alumnus of the Mandela Washington Fellowship at Rutgers University, where he deepened his leadership in civic engagement and innovation. Johnmary has been recognized globally for his work, including receiving the UN Habitat Scroll of Honour Award and other local and international honors.
