Started as a river rafting guide while studying in Stellenbosch Two friends paddling down the Doring River in freezing cold water decided to start an overland company. Knowing not much about anything, but had a desire to travel in wild africa. Umkulu was born. Thought it would be a great way to see and explore wild africa. After many an adventure - I am still guiding river trails and offer small group specialized safaris in Zambia, Namibia, Botswana and South Africa - 6-8 people per safari and only trails inclusive of the 'road less travelled'.
