I'm Desmond Langkilde, a limber 63 year young fossil, a travel writer, and a dreamer.
I have a dream that's born of passion, nurtured through countless hours, even years, of planning, budgetting, and grant funding application rejections. And still the Dream persists! Undaunted by others who consider the Dream to be fanciful, unrealistic, or just plain crazy. If your dreams are similar, then I'm in good company.
This is a long story. So sit back, grab a coffee (or your favourite tipple), and read on as I share my dream with you.
Then, at the end, make a comment. Be critical. Share your dream. How did you overcome setbacks to turn your dream into reality? After all, I'm posting this to get feedback and inspiration from the Travel Massive community (or anyone you care to share this post with).
👉 So, here's my dream; to walk the entire Africa coastline, including the continents' islands - 40 countries, 40,000km, 52 million steps.
And while walking, to tell Africas' stories. Storie...

We are in Puerto Vallarta for the next five weeks. Looking for all types of tips from food, drinks, and things to do. Many thanks for your suggestions! Looking to hear from the Travel Massive community.
Eric!!! Good to see you Mex-side!! If you make it to Oaxaca later, please look me up! I'll be back there Dec 14 onwards!
I've only been to Vallarta a couple of times, but... had some of the best cocktails of my life at El Colibrí Cocktail Bar! Amazing ambiance, delcious drinks!! highly recommended!
Also, for a fun sunset experience - reserve a pool table (sitting IN the shallow pool) for sunset at Ventas (Ik, Mar y Vino, Noroc). Decent drinks and food.. more there for the fun, atmosphere and view! :)
Hope you have fun! Vallarta's a beautiful spot!
Hey Ian, long time no...... Thanks for sharing this. I don't see us getting to Oaxaca but you never know. We'll be in Mexico City in January after we get back from Thailand. Thanks for the tips, we'll certainly take a look. Hope you are doing well. Eric
Hola!
I Love PV, and have been many times... Zona Romantica is my fav, especially after 2-3 blocks from the playa, you get into real neighborhoods of locals. A great food truck loved by locals: Tacos El Moreno (this and all spots are on google maps). Locals small market: Mercado Emiliano Zapata. Riverside openair dining: Balam Balam.
Happy hour on beach front is lower quality mostly, yet having your feet in the sand is a bonus!
Enjoy!
Thanks for sharing this Bryon. We've been eating really well and always welcome additional recommendations.
